Blue Pedestal Cake Plate Hand Painted Artistan Violets Forget Me Nots 1971
This is an artisan hand painted pedestal cake plate, comport or plateau with a design of hand painted Violets or Forget Me Nots and burnished gold trim painted by an artisan on a white blank which is probably French or German dated 1971.
Painting on china purchased as a white "blank" and painted in the US or England by a cottage artist was a popular pastime by genteel ladies from the Victorian age through the 1980s.
The embossed porcelain scalloped pedestal cake plate has burnished gold fancy reticulated handles and measures 4 inches high by 7.7 inches in diameter.
The pretty porcelain hand painted artisan pedestal cake serving plate is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips or cracks, and only very minor gold wear.
The artist has signed the piece in gold and it reads "Hand painted by Rose Holman (?) 1971 USA".
A lovely addition to a tea table or special gathering.
