This is an antique biscuit jar, biscuit barrel or cookie jar in a hand painted Imari or Gaudy English style made by W. Wood and Company, England, 1890-1901.

The al hand painted biscuit barrel or biscuit jar measures 9.5 inch high including the fancy handle or 6 inches high to the top of the jar by 5.5 inches in diameter.

The biscuit jar has a hand painted imari design of leaves and stylized motifs in cobalt and rust with lots of gold with silver plated fittings marked EPNS.

The biscuit barrel is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks with only some minor age related crazing and very slight discoloration from the oils in the cookies or biscuits stored in the jar.

The fittings need a polish and there is wear to the plating on the lid.

The jar is a very decorative piece as well as highly usable and collectible in one of my favorite design styles.
