Vintage Hand Painted Tea Caddy Canister Japanese Lacquerware 1930s Interior lid Iris Bird

Japan, vintage

SKU:
  • $ 000

This is a vintage hand painted Japanese lacquer or lacquerware tea caddy or tea canister made in the 1930s with Iris, a bird and metallic gold.

The black laquer tea caddy has the internal caddy lid with brass knob, which is usually missing, and it's original black painted tin friction fit lid.

The hand painted tea canister measures 5.5 inches high by 4.5 inches in diameter.

The embossed bottom mark indicates that the maker is Golden Rule, Japan.

The vintage tea caddy shows quite a bit of pattern wear, what looks to be a paint smear, dents in the lid and crack of the surface lacquer in one place. But it is still useable and such a neat vintage tea caddy.

The tea caddy, jar or canister is a very decorative addition to kitchen or desk and could be used for a lot of things beside teabags, and in many different rooms.
