This is a hand painted French Empire Revival fancy cabinet plate depicting Empress Josephine in the Royal Vienna style from the early part of the 20th century.

The plate is a quite large, 10.75 inches in diameter, a charger or just a cabinet plate.

Although the portrait is not identified, it is a hand painted portrait of the Empress Josephine, wife of Napoleon, and the letter N is incorporated into the hand painted gold metallic laurel leaf band.

The plate has exquisite detail in hand applied enamel paints, with a beaded enamel border and jewelry embellishments and heavy gold trim with a gold overlay laurel leaf border.

There are no chips, cracks or restorations. A fabulous piece and so very decorative.
