Green Salt Glaze Pitcher Jug Pewter Lid Antique Art Nouveau Basket Daisies 1860s

Antique Staffordshire, England

SKU:
  • $ 000

This is an antique pale green embossed salt glazed stoneware pitcher or jug with an art nouveau pewter lid from Staffordshire, England dating to 1860-1880.

The fabulous antique English molded relief salt glaze jug stands 8 inches high and dates to the mid Victorian English Arts And Crafts movement which paralleled the Aesthetic Movement in the USA.

The embossed flowers on it are superb. They look like daisies and there is an embossed basket weave base to the design.

The metal lid is an art nouveau water lily leaf and has a lovely molded thumb finial. There is a bit of wear on the hinge but it still works. The lid has been professionally repaired at some time.

The green salt glaze jug is from the Staffordshire potteries in England and although unmarked is attributed to Wm. Brownfield.

The jug or pitcher is in very good ++ used antique condition with no chips or cracks and is a wonderful piece of mid victorian ceramic art.
