This is an antique Staffordshire, England Crested China souvenir cheese dome, butter dish or covered muffin dish made by Arkinstall & Sons, England in the Arcadian line between 1904-1924 for the town of Petworth...a town in West Sussex.
Arcadian made a lot of souvenir of what is called Crested China.
The lidded muffin, cheese or butter dish is 3.5 inches high by 7 inches in diameter, and is made of molded ceramic with traces of original gold trim.
The domed lid has a twig handle and the hand enamel painted crest of Petworth, so was made as a souvenir piece.
Travel and souvenirs from places visited was a popular Edwardian pastime. The artist's mark is inside the lid.
The butter, cheese of muffin dish is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There is gold trim wear, and some kiln dust or mineral deposits, which are quite normal for this age and material.
