Charlotte Rhead Teapot Cosy Pot Dripless Seed Poppy Tubelined 1920s Pink Cobalt Green Rare
SKU:
This is a very rare Charlotte Rhead designed art nouveau floral tube lined patented teapot in a vivid tubelined design called Seed Poppy.
The teapot shape itself is from a design patented by Edward William Abram in 1921. The 'COSY' teapot was claimed to be 'The perfect teapot' by its designer as it did not drip or spill, although it was also marketed as a coffee pot to broaden the market for it.
The lid is a unique locking device.
The transitional art nouveau to art deco Cosy Teapot measures 6.75 inches high by 5.5 inches long spout tip to handle edge by 5 inches in diameter.
The design of lush tube lined roses, reminiscent of a Moorcroft design, is a Charlotte Rhead design from 1915.
The design is a “tube lined design” that used a technique of outlining the design elements the lines with a paint or slip tube.
The colorful tube lined teapot was produced by Wood & Sons LTD, Burslem, England and is marked with patent numbers.
The piece is in very good +++ used vintage estate condition with no chips or cracks and is in totally original condition with no restoration.
The teapot does have mild and typical glaze crazing as shown in the pictures.
Absolutely beautiful! I love the neat shape and fancy design.
