This is an English hallmarked antique victorian cut crystal squared barbell cutlery rest, knife rest or knife holder with hallmarked sterling silver rings for WHS for William Henry Sparrow London 1864.

The waffle, diamond and star cut crystal knife rest measures 3.75 inches high by 1 inch square ends with a tapered middle.

The Edwardian era English knife rest is in very good +++ used vintage condition with very minor facet chipping and some dents on the sterling silver rings at each end around the star cut ends.

Knife rests were developed to showcase wealth on a victorian table as well as keep the tablecloth clean. An elegant way to do so and very collectible.
