Whiting Davis Silver Mesh Purse Handbag 1940s Art Deco Evening Bag Elegant
This is a gorgeous silver metal mesh purse by Whiting and Davis, USA with a convertible chain to be used as a clutch of strap bag dating to the 1940s according to the label.
The silver plated mesh purse measures 5.5 inches high without the chain or 11 inches high including the chain handle by 6.5 inches long by 3 inches wide.
The purse or hand bag has a 10 inch chain with hinged attachments to hide in the purse if wanted.
The silver mesh purse has an art deco silver plated frame. The criss cross or kiss ball catch is tight and the vintage purse has a pale yellow silk moire lining with the original Whiting & Davis cloth label as well as the engraved logo on the frame.
The purse is in very good ++ condition with a few minor signs of use on the frame and a bit of soiling to the lining. But there are no missing plates in the mesh, no tears, only minor signs of use on the base from use, no missing stitches to the lining but the interior pocket attachment is loose in one corner.
Whiting and Davis have always been fabulous manufacturers and this is another great vintage example. An elegant and beautiful piece.
