European, Continental, vintage

This is a beautiful hand painted luncheon plate with a design of hand painted yellow Roses and blue forget me nots on a reticulated porcelain plate that shades from blue to apricot.

The plate dates to 1900-1920s, when plate painting on a plate purchased as a white "blank" and painted in the US or England by a cottage artist was a popular pastime by genteel ladies.

The plate measures 8.25 inches in diameter, and is most likely German in origin, although unmarked.

The pretty porcelain plate is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips or cracks, and only very minor gold wear.

A lovely addition to a tea table as a lemon plate or for cake or dessert.
