This is a large William Kent, England character jug or toby jug of a standing Mr. Pickwick from Charles Dickens' novel The Pickwick Papers.

The large hand painted ceramic toby or character jug was made in the 1910s. The standing figure jug measures 7.5 inches high and is a rarely seen piece. 

The toby is listed on page 39 of Collecting British Toby Jugs by Vic Schuler.

The Mr. Pickwick character jug is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips, cracks or repairs.

The jug is rarely seen and so decorative!
