This is a large breakfast sized Dartmouth Pottery, Torquay, England mottoware, motto ware or Devon ware cup and saucer from the 1948-1950s.
The cup and saucer set is a traditional cottage design with the motto Where Friends There Riches and a hand painted slip trees saucer border.
The cup measures 3 inches high and is 3.5 inches in diameter the saucer is 6.25 inches in diameter.
The cup and saucer is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
This famous and fun pottery has been manufactured in the south of England from the 1870s until the factories closed in the 1960s and is usually of red clay decorated with bright glazes with cottages, ships or birds and mottos or sayings that run the gamut from proverbs and sound advice to nearly outrageous. Always fun and different and very collectible!
