Wileman Shelley Cup And Saucer With Plate Trio Empire Rust And Green

Shelley China

SKU:
  • $ 22800

This is an early Shelley China, England teacup trio or cup and saucer with matching plate from the 1890s when the company went under the Wileman name, in the Foley works.

The rust and green pattern is called Floral Print With Scroll and is number 9109.

The set bears the British registry number for the pattern for 1893 which was when the pattern was registered, but the Shelley pattern books say it was produced in 1891 with this back stamp.

The pattern is a green transfer pattern on white with rust scrolls and gold trim on the Empire shape.

The Victorian to Edwardian era bone china cup is 2 inches high by 4 inches in diameter, the saucer is 5.65 in diameter, the plate is 7.25 in diameter.

All pieces are in very good +++ used vintage condition, with normal wear on the saucer and plate, with the only flaw a tiny nick under the gold trim on the cup lip. There is no internal hairline or crack. The cup does not "ring", but then this shape never does with all the fluting.

A wonderful pattern that is rarely seen.
