Shelley China

SKU:
  • $ 000

This is a rarely seen Wileman, an early form of Shelley China, England souvenir side, cake or bread plate in the Shell shape with gold trim dating to the 1880s depicting Mt. Rainier in black transferware.

The cake plate measures 6 inches in diameter with an intricate shell scalloped and ribbed textural design.

The fine bone china souvenir plate, although easily identified as Wileman by shape quality and workmanship, is not marked by the maker as some of the earliest pieces were not. It bears the English Registry Design mark for 1880-1881 in marked that it was made for W. M. Cowley, Seattle, WA who was a prominent Seattle Victorian era retailer.

The decorative is in very good +++ condition with no chips or cracks with a tiny bit of wear to the gold trim.

A very pretty way to serve the cress sandwiches and celebrate early Wileman quality as well as a Washington landmark.
