This is an Edwardian imari pattern cup and saucer made by Taylor and Kent, England 1910-1920s.
The imari pattern was popularized in the victorian period by the discovery and popularity of the Japanese china from the Imari region that featured bright cobalt blue, red and green, in a traditional imari pattern hand painted on sepia transfer with heavy gold trim.
The cup is 2.5 high, the saucer is 5.5 in diameter and the cup and saucer are in excellent used vintage condition with no wear at all. The photos don't do the cup and saucer justice because of the reflecting gold surfaces. There have been lots of Imari china on Downton Abbey...the Dowager Duchess Violet favors it!
