Sugar Crusher Sugar Tamper Muddler Antique English Glass Victorian 1890s

English vintage

SKU:
  • $ 000

This is a sugar crusher, sugar tamper or the more modern name of muddler made of pressed glass with a bubble surface and a polished ground end made in England 1890-1910.

The antique English tapered sugar crusher measures 5 inches long with a large end diameter on 1 inch and is in excellent used vintage condition with no chips or cracks and only the tiniest signs of use.

Sugar crushers, or tampers or the more modern name muddler, were used to break up lumps of sugar for better absorption in tea, drinks or cooking.

They are a true victorian era kitchen gadget and are almost never seen. They were once a staple of every kitchen.

A wonderful kitchen gadget and bit of Victoriana that is experiencing a bit of a re purposing since the popularity of mojito cocktails require sugar and mint muddling or crushing to mix the flavors.
