Violet Brass Violet Seal For Wax 1960s Invitations Letters Elegant Correspondence

English vintage

This is a vintage 1960s brass Violet seal, stamp or crest stamp for sealing correspondence or invitations in the elegant style of slow mail.

The solid brass seal measures 1.25 inches high with the round base of an intaglio Violet measuring 5/8 of an inch, or just over .5 of an inch.

The wax seal was made in Birmingham, England but I don't remember the maker's name.

In the 1960s-1970s I sealed all my correspondence this way, but just refound a small box of seals and sealing wax. I was able to melt enough after many trials to give an example, but most of the wax sticks would not light, would not melt or burst into flame, so I have discarded them all. But… sealing wax sticks are still readily available.

Original patina. I have not polished it up.

Perfect for tea party invitations!
