Edwardian Imari Teacup Trio Transferware Ironstone Downton Abbey 1890-1905

English vintage

SKU:
  • $ 000

This is an Imari pattern cup and saucer and matching plate, or teacup trio made in the Art Sutherland line by W Hudson, England 1892-1905 and similar to sets seen on Downton Abbey.

The Imari pattern was popularized in the Victorian period right through the Edwardian era to 1940s by the discovery and popularity of the Japanese china from the Imari region that featured bright cobalt blue, red and green and gold.

The cup is 2.75 high, the saucer is 5.5 in diameter and the plate is 6.5 inches in diameter.

The Imari ironstone cup and saucer with matching plate are in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks and only some minor gold trim wear.

The photos don't do the cup and saucer justice because of the reflecting gold surfaces. Violet would have loved this set.
