This is an antique French curling iron or hair curler that was heated over a flame or hot surface than used to make curls.
The curling iron dates to 1900-1910 and is 10 inches long and has ebonized wooden handles and is marked, but is difficult to decipher.
One side looks like __HUGEE or _OGEE and the other CIEF perhaps and an F or P.
The blades are tight and are nickel plated, but do show wear. There are cracks in the wooden handles, but are still secure.
A wonderfully decorative item to display on a vanity or powder room wall for antique décor.
