This is a grey stoneware with a blue sponge and stencil fruit basket design butter pat, butter chip or small butter dish.

The blue and grey or light brown butter pat measures 3.25 inches square and has a sponged border like Bennington Pottery stoneware and a stenciled fruit basket or apple basket design in the center.

The butter pat or butter dish is in very good +++ used vintage condition with no chips or cracks. It looks in the photo as if there were wear lines, but there is not. It is just slightly higher areas in the stoneware surface that reflect the light more. No wear at all to the glaze.  

Butter pats are being used currently as ring dishes, teabag holders and for sushi and sauces.
