Description
This is an original newspaper dated March 21, 1863 of the Illustrated Times, London, England covering arrival of Princess Alexandra of Denmark for her wedding to Queen Victoria's eldest son, the Prince Of Wales. As big a deal as the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer was in 1981, this royal wedding was just as newsworthy. The newspaper has drawings of the procession, the betrothal and wedding rings, articles on the wedding, gifts, songs and poetry in honor of the couple, and a double page drawing of the wedding in St. George's Chapel. In a back page is a small blurb about the American civil war going on at this time. It really is a window in to Victorian England. The pages are page 161-192 (they numbered them through the year) and the newspaper measures 15.5 inches high by 10.75 inches wide when closed. The newspaper is in very good ++ condition with a general mustiness and a few pages loose from the binding. A wonderful window on history.
